FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is the festival held?

The San Diego Jazz Fest will take place at the Town & Country Resort Hotel, located on "Hotel Circle" in the Mission Valley area of San Diego. All performance venues are on the Town & Country property. 

What is the festival schedule?

The festival begins with a dance on Wednesday evening prior to Thanksgiving from 7:00 p.m until 11:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the Town & Country will offer their renowned Thanksgiving Champagne Buffet in the Convention Center, where diners will be serenaded by live jazz. Thursday night, several bands will perform in the Town & Country Room of the Convention Center from 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. On Friday, the music begins at 10:30 a.m. and continues until midnight. Saturday runs from 9:30 a.m. to midnight. And, Sunday's schedule is 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

How many bands will be playing?

Over 17 bands and Guest Artists will perform during the festival weekend.  Most bands perform on Friday and Saturday.

What kind of music will be played?

Festival attendees can hear a variety of traditional jazz styles, ragtime, swing, blues, and boogie-woogie.

How many venues are there?

There are 5 performance sites located within the Town & Country Convention Center.

Can we dance to the music?

Dancers are welcome at the festival! Most venues have dance floors.

Is there reserved seating?

There is imited reserved seating at the front of our venues for Festival Sponsors and it is reserved for the first 15 minutes of each set. Click here for more info about sponsorships. However, the rest of the venue is open seating and our friendly and helpful volunteers will be glad to assist you in finding a seat at any of our performance sites.

Is smoking allowed?

In accordance with California law, the San Diego Jazz Fest is a "clean-air" event. Smoking is permitted outdoors only.

How should we dress?

Be comfortable! Wear what you like. The San Diego weather is generally fair and mild during Thanksgiving, though you may want to bring a light jacket for the cool evenings.  Many attend in early 20th Century period dress, especially for Friday and Saturday evenings.

What kind of food and drink will be available?

The hotel offers several selections for meals and drinks at the Arlo, Lapper, and the marketplace.  During the Jazz Fest, grab-and-go sandwhiches and soup will be available in the Convention Center, as well as several bartender stations offering a selection of beverages. 

Will there be recordings for sale?

Nearly all the festival bands will have recordings for sale at the venues where they are performing. Besides the recordings, festival attendees can purchase festival souvenirs and jazzy clothing at designated areas in the Convention Center.

Are there other activities for visitors?

There are three swimming pools, a full-service European spa and a health club on the hotel property. The Town & Country is also adjacent to the Riverwalk Golf Club and Fashion Valley Shopping Center. Access to Sea World, Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, Old Town, the beaches and Tijuana, Mexico is as close as the Metropolitan Transit System bus and trolley terminal on the Town & Country property next to the large Fashion Valley Shopping Center. How do we get to the festival?

San Diego is served by most major airlines, AMTRAK and Greyhound Bus Lines.  Shuttle services, taxis and limousines are available at the airport and at the railroad station and bus station downtown.  The Town & Country Resort is about 15 minutes drive from downtown.  Public transportation is nearby. The San Diego Trolley/Metropolitan Transit System transportation center is walking distance from the Town & Country. Ride the Trolley and Bus to the Fashion Valley Station.

Is parking available at the hotel?

Parking will be available for both hotel guests and jazz fest attendees for a low daily rate.  In the event of the need for overflow parking, the hotel will arrange for additional parking locations and will provide shuttle services to and from those locations.  If you have questions about where to park on the day of the event, please contact the hotel to request additional information (800-772-8527).

Can we bring our RV?

Overnight parking of RVs is allowed for those staying at the Town & Country Hotel and displaying a parking pass. For those not registered at the Town & Country, parking of RVs is only allowed during festival hours. No camping or overnight occupancy is allowed since the Town & Country is not licensed as a camping facility. A special paved lot East of the main parking lot is provided to accommodate the RVs. Can we purchase all-event badges in advance?

Yes. You can obtain a printable registration form from this website. Send a check or money order for the badges, payable to AFCDJS, to: P.O. Box 880387, San Diego, CA 92168-0387. You can also order online direct with the Festival using your credit card. Click here for all badge info.

Will the 2022 festival have mask, social distance, or COVID-19 vaccincation requirements?

We committed to having the safest event possible, and will abide by any health orders issued by the County and City of San Diego at the time of the festival.

When and where will I get my tickets?

Your name has been entered into our database, and all you need to do is show up at the event, head to the event ticket booth in the Town & Country Convention Center Lobby, show your ID and receive a badge or wristband for the day(s) you have purchased!  That's it!

Can I get a refund if I cannot attend?

Yes! Please email to sales@sdjazzfest.org to request a refund.  Be sure to include your full name, and what you purchased, so a refund can be returned to you.

Can I buy a ticket for someone else?

Yes, but the person who purchases the tickets must be at the event, and show ID to receive the tickets they purchased. 

Can I sell my ticket to someone else? Can I buy a ticket from someone else?

No.  We cannot transfer tickets from the individual who originally purchased tickets.  If someone is selling their tickets to the event, they are likely trying to scam someone.  Please report them to the San Diego Jazz Fest Facebook page or Instagram page via direct message if you see someone trying to do this.
